The best dance studio in Dublin is up for sale and there’s competition for the title.
The Dublin Dance Studio owner has announced plans to sell the building in order to invest in a new facility.
The new building will be the fifth in Dublin for the company.
It will house the Dance Studio Ireland Academy and the company is currently negotiating with a new property owner.
DST owner Heathers has already closed on a new location for its dance studio at the former Roxy theatre.
However, the new facility will offer the same quality of performance as the old building, with a capacity for 200 people.
The existing building will remain open and the new building should be ready for occupancy by mid-2018.
Heathers said the decision to sell was taken in light of the changes in the commercial environment.
“The dance studio was in an untenable state and we wanted to move on, in part to ensure the facility would be suitable for the new ownership,” she said.
“We believe it is now time for us to focus on other projects.”
She said she wanted to create a new building for herself and her family, but added: “The new owner is looking at the facility and I don’t know where they want to use it.
I hope they are doing well with the new property and we hope that the new owners are also doing well.”
The new Dance Studio Dublin will have an indoor and outdoor space.
It is hoped the building will accommodate up to 400 people and Heathers is working with the Dublin City Council to explore the possibility of the building being used as a community centre.
The building has been the venue for performances since the 1950s and has hosted concerts, theatre performances, film and television.
Dst’s director of development, Andrew McNamara, said the company was not planning on moving into the new venue, which will be located on the former location of the Roxy.
“It’s going to be a very special space,” he said.
However the DST director added that they were keen to have a venue for future events and exhibitions.
“There will be a fantastic opportunity for us, it’s a beautiful venue, there’s a lot of historical significance there, and it will be an ideal venue for us,” he added.
The facility will also include a cafe and a fitness centre.
It was hoped the new dance studio would be open to the public for performances from August to December.
However with no firm date yet for the event, the Dst director said they would keep everyone updated.
DSP Ireland is the first company to have an opening in Dublin.
It has been a relatively slow start to the business, but McNamara said it was the first time the company had opened in Ireland.
“I think we’re going to have to get our feet under the table a bit,” he explained.
“You know, the Irish have always had a bit of a soft spot for dance studios.
The company also said they were committed to working with other dance studios in Ireland and would look to expand into other markets.”
But there’s no way they’re going in there to create the best quality of performances, and we’ve been working really hard on that.”
